    Collected straight from Subic's wrecks are artifacts from sunken vessels that highlight Subic Bay's significant historical role. Sunken national treasures, some dating as early as 1898, are on display at Magellan's Landing, a maritime museum conceived by a visitor-turned-resident diving enthusiast.

  4. Spanish Gate

    5. In March 8, 1885, the Spanish Naval Commission authorized the construction of an arsenal at Olongapo. The Spanish Gate Served as the main entrance to this Naval Station.

  5. San Roque Church

    6. Established around the 1800's, the San Roque Church was built for the Spanish sailors and Filipinos who were converted to Christianity.

  6. Grande Island

    7. The island, formerly called Fort Wint in honor of Gen. Theodore J. Wint, was heavily fortified by the U.S. Army between 1909 and 1919. Gun emplacements were constructed to protect Subic Bay. Now, the island is transformed into a world-class resort.

  7. Admiral's Guest House

    8. The former 10-bed Camilia Simpson hospital was converted into the quarters of the Commander of the Subic Bay Naval Station. Now, it is preserved as a special function facility of the SBMA.

  8. Tappan Park

    9. The park was named after Captain Benjamin Tappan, Commandant of the Navy Yard (1914-1915). It is the oldest and most symbolic park in the Olongapo and Subic Bay Area.

  9. Inang Laya Monument

    10. Portrayal of a robed woman releasing a small bird while upon her feet, twelve hand prints, set in marble, of the Philippine Senators who voted for the removal of the U.S. military facilities in the country. The Volunteers Monument honors the thousands of Filipinos who preserved the facilities left by the Americans after pulling out in 1992 and worked to jumpstart the conversion process.

The Subic Bay Historical Museum captures highlights of Subic's glorious past and present- from the time when it was a simple community of Aetas, to its heydays as strategic naval facilities of the Spaniards, Japanese and Americans, to its transformation as the country's first Freeport. The museum features a walk through of lifelike dioramas and displays depicting Subic Bay's most important periods of its history.
